16. Amendment of Section 194C In section 194C of the Income-tax Act, - (a) in sub-section (1), - (i) in clause (d), for the word company, , the words company; or shall be substituted; (ii) after clause (d), the following clause shall be inserted, namely :- (e) any co-operative society, ; (b) in sub-section (3), - (i) in clause (ii), for the word and figures June, 1972. , the words and figures June, 1972; or shall be substituted; (ii) after clause (ii), the following clause shall be inserted, namely :- (iii) any sum credited or paid before the 1st day of June, 1973, in pursuance of a contract between the contractor and a co-operative society or in pursuance of a contract between such contractor and the sub-contractor in relation to any work (including supply of labour for carrying out any work), undertaken by the contractor for the co-operative society. .
